For over 10 years, the Dutchess County Chamber Foundation hosted the Adopt-A-Family program, connecting businesses and organizations with hundreds of families in need right here in Dutchess County. We are so excited to announce another year of The Chamber Foundation’s Adopt-A-Family program. Your business can make a difference by bringing joy and a smile to our local families this holiday season!

Twenty-four families are selected from any of The Chamber Foundation's Workforce Development Programs; Youth One Stop, Next Step, Next Gen Summer Academy, Youth Entrepreneur Program, or the Career Action Center at the Poughkeepsie High School and paired with a local business to receive gift donations. These programs assist at-risk and low-income families and individuals with employment, education and supportive services.

Each business will have an opportunity to adopt one family from these programs and work with their assigned case manager to make their wishes come true! Upon signing up, you will be assigned your family and their Wishlist. We accept both gift and monetary donations. We would like gifts to be gathered, no later than Friday, December 5. We will be delivering the gifts to their families during the week of Monday, December 15. Please have all gifts wrapped and labeled.

Who can participate?
Any business, family or individual can adopt a family.

How big will the family be?
We will work with you on selecting a family that will fit the size of your business. Not all of our families will have children or toddlers, but all of our families are in need.

How will I know what to buy?
Our families have very basic needs. They often ask for food items, home necessities, warm winter clothing and holiday decorations. We will provide you with a list of the family’s needs and a couple of wishes. This is a donation, so what you give is an individual decision. (Of course, all kids love to receive a new toy!). Our rule of thumb is for each family member, providing one thing they want, one thing they need, one thing they wear, and one thing they read. In past years, businesses would spend roughly $100/family member.

Where do I deliver the gifts?
You can arrange gifts to be dropped off at the Chamber Office, located at One Civic Center Plaza, Suite 407, Poughkeepsie, or we can pick it up for you! If you select pick up, we will coordinate a pick up schedule with you.
